Billing & credit packs
New accounts are pay-as-you-go: you buy a block of captioning minutes once, and it never expires. No monthly subscription, no auto-renewal.
How credits work
Your organization has a balance of credits. Every minute of live captioning, across every meeting, uses at least one credit, and there's no per-meeting quota and no expiration date on the credits themselves. How many credits a minute uses depends on the meeting's caption languages.
Languages and the credit rate
Credits are per caption language. A meeting that captions in one language, or translates the speaker into one other language, uses 1 credit per minute. Each additional translation language adds 1 more credit per minute. The speaker's own language is never counted, because it is what is being transcribed, not translated.

The rate is shown on the meeting form before you save, and on the control panel before you press Start ("your balance covers about N minutes at 2x"). The new-account wizard starts with the speaker's language only, so nothing is translated, or charged for, until you add a language.

Each pack is a one-time purchase through Stripe Checkout, from Org → Billing → Buy more credits. Buy as many as you need, whenever you need them — there's no subscription to manage or cancel. Every purchase gets a Stripe receipt (the Receipt link on its row in the purchase history). To send receipts to a treasurer or clerk, set the Send receipts to address on the same page; the Cards and past invoices button opens Stripe's portal for saved cards and older invoices.

New organizations start with 15 free captioning minutes — no credit card required to sign up or to use them.
Running low or hitting zero
You'll get an email when the balance drops below 50 credits, when the free credits are half used, and when the balance reaches zero, so you can top up before a meeting instead of during one. A meeting that is already running is allowed to finish: the balance may dip a little below zero and the next purchase repays that first. If your balance can't cover a full minute, starting a new recording is blocked with:
"You're out of captioning minutes. Buy more credits to keep recording — credits never expire."
Buy any pack from Org → Billing and pick up right where you left off. Operators who can't open the billing page get an Ask owner to top up button instead, which emails the owner a ready-to-pay link.
Auto top-up (optional)
Owners can turn on auto top-up on the billing page: choose a threshold and a pack, and when your credits fall to the threshold we charge the card you paid with for that pack, so a meeting is never cut short. The card is saved by your next pack purchase, with Stripe's consent text. If a charge fails we email the owners, and after two failures in a row auto top-up turns itself off. It is off until you turn it on.
Tracking usage
Org → Usage breaks down minutes consumed over time and by meeting, so you can see where minutes are going before you need to buy another pack.
